Help us work today for a better tomorrow!

Steven has lived in Hallowell with his wife Janet for just over 43 years. They have two adult sons, Steven, II and Matthew. They also have two dogs, Thor and Holly. He earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Maine System in Public Administration with an emphasis in Political and Computer Sciences.
Steven had his first job at age 15. Working as an attendant at a local car wash. He learned to resolve issues at a very young age. When someones car had a problem he had to be able to handle the situation and work out a resolution that would satisfy all parties.
He carried that ability throughout his 42 years of employment as a Researcher, Negotiator and IT Director, retiring in 2017 to help care for his aging father. During his employment he had the resposibility of analyzing State of Maine Budgets over a period of 35 years looking for "the good, the bad and the ugly" and figuring out ways to revise them to the benefit of all Maine citizens. Steven has been appointed by Governors, Senate President's and House Speakers to serve on a myriad of Maine State Workgroups and Committees on the issues of retirement and pensions. He has also researched healthcare costs within the State of Maine and presented ways to improve the distribution of funding.
A 22 year "veteran" with the Maine Army National Guard he retired in 1996 as a Staff Sergeant and was the recipient of "The Army Commendation Medal" for "the highest traditions of selfless service and devotion to duty".
Steven is a long time NASCAR fan and has actually driven stock cars at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Steven has strong feelings about issues that are important to the citizens of House District 55.
Steven's primary issues ...
Labor Rights- Every working person has a right to protections to ensure that they can secure a good job and make a decent living for themselves and their families.
Retiree Rights - Retirees spent their lives working within our communities. Now that they have retired they should be able to live a full life, have the resources necessary to maintain a home and have access to the healthcare that they need. Also, retirees as they age, need to have access to good "Home Care Assistance". Giving them the ability to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.
Education - Maine State Government has been doing its "voter mandated" obligation of funding fifty-five percent (55%) of the cost of education. However, it can do more! We need to have the best teachers and school buildings that are in good condition so that students have a comfortable and nurturing environment. Above all of that we need to ensure that our schools are SAFE! State Government needs to provide the additional resources to support these issues.
Healthcare and Prescription Drugs - Everyone is very aware of the increasing costs of healthcare and prescription drugs. Both are increasing at alarming rates and outpacing inflation at every turn. State Government should be doing everything that it can to find ways to negotiate better cost controls particularly on prescription drugs.
Natural Resources- We need to preserve Maine's Natural Resources and part of that effort is making certain that our land is used properly and that dangerous "forever chemicals" do not make it into our drinking water and our food supply.

Steven is running as a Maine Clean Election Candidate.
As such, he needs to receive sixty (60) individual $5.00 Qualifying Contributionss from registered voters living in Hallowell, Manchester and West Gardiner in order to qualify for Maine Clean Election Funds for his campaign. The easiest way to do this is through the Maine Ethics Commissions Online safe, secure, state-run portal.
